2nd Semester Blog 1

Tuesday on January 28,2014 I went to Gordon Lane. The CNA I was assigned to was Yesenia. Yesenia had rooms 5ABC 6ABC 7ABC 8ABC and 13B. I helped her shower resident 5C. My partners name is Vanessa she helped as well. Our instructor assigned us an assignment to take care of two residents of our choice. We need to take vital signs, intake and output, feeding, and showering. My choice of residents is 8C and 5B. After I have decided it was a regular day. I did bed making, changing, feeding, and showering. After we were done with showering changing and more we took the residents to the activity room.In the activity the residents were watching a movie. When the movie was over it was time to pass out trays. The residents were eating spaghetti, salad, bread, and angle fruit cake. When they were finished eating we cleaned up the dining room and took them to the hall way out side of their room. Vanessa and I helped our CNA put the residents to bed. Before we put them to bed we get their night gown or pajamas, change their briefs, and get extra blankets for them. We put them to bed but don't forget to put the side rails up.

On December 7 was my day back to Gordon Lane. I was on break for about one week. When I went back things were a little different. There was new CNA's on the floor and because of that reason some of our students had to pair up. I didn't have a partner I was alone and my CNA's name was Alicia. Alicia taught me many things that day. I shaved a residents facial hair and I got to changed a couple briefs and do bed making. There was one resident that was new and he needs to be on his bed because he may fall and hurt himself if he gets up therefor I was with him watching him and keeping him company. That day I was really busy I took another resident a shower. It was nice taking him a shower because he has ability to help himself so it made my job a little easier.

On November 19,2013 I went to Gordon Lane facility. My CNA was Marcos. I had rooms 5BC, 6ABC, 7ABC, 8ABC, and 9A. I arrived at 3:45pm and we got on the floor at 4:00. My CNA let me do plenty of hands on work. I was really glad I had him as the CNA. When I found my CNA he took me to room 5 bed C and asked me to get the patient ready for a bath. We went to the shower room and I took her a shower. After I showered her I got to brush her hair and dress her. When we were done dressing her I took her to the dining room. I got to set up tables and pass out trays. The trays have different type of food it depends if the resident has teeth, dentures, or no teeth. After passing out the trays we did feeding. We get to feed residents that need that assisting or if some of them just want you to assist them. After they're finished eating its clean up time. Clean up time lasts for about 20 minutes. Some of the residents already did their bowel movement so then we would change their briefs.
