Last blog of the year

For this project I had basically the whole year to accomplish my project. I didn't slack off and I successfully finished it. For my project I did my nursing assistant class. I did over one hundred hours of clinical. It was kind of hard because I was getting a little tired of having to go every week and getting home late, but at the end it was all worth it. I received my certificate and after I took my California Nursing Assistant test I got my certification for passing. It was 90 dollars and all the hours was worth it. My presentation was a success because not only did I present on what I was doing for my 20 percent project I also gave an example of one of the things I did on the test. I ambulated Emily, one of the students in my class. Ambulating means assisting while walking and we do that when the people are recovering from their accident. I honestly think I did a pretty good job on my presentation.

On May 17th I took my State Test for CNA. It was two tests to pass. I was super nervous! I got to the Regional Testing Center at 645 in the morning and I didn't leave till 230 in the afternoon. Once I got there i went to the written testing area, they checked my California ID and my Social Security. After I signed in we took the test. The room was full of Savanna H.S students and a little bit of adults who were also taking their certification test. After the written test we waited for about 2 and a half hours in the lounge to take our skills test. For the skills test they were giving us four skills to test on. It is always hand washing. measuring, and two other skills. I did hand washing, counting the pulse, ambulating, and helping with a right weak side. It was super nerve wrecking because I was alone with the tester and resident. I waited for about an hour for my test results and I ..... PASSED!

This week is the week of my state test. On Tuesday night i got into a car accident and got injured on my left side, and my test is this Saturday. I was about to postponed my test, but I decided not to. Today we're actually going to the center after school and we are all going to practice. My instructor asked people to help us so we can be prepared for it. I feel a little sketchy on doing blood pressures. The part that bothers me about it is listening to the pulse. The only reason why I feel like I wouldn't do so well on the skills test is because I'm going to be alone with judge and that gets me really nervous. I have to be there at 7 in the morning, but our teacher recommends us to be there about thirty minutes early. I'm super nervous !!

I have finished going to the facility because we are now studying for the state test that I'm taking on May 17th. The state test is 90 dollars. We couldn't give them cash we had to give them a money order. Half of the test is a written exam and the other half is hands on work, also known as skills. I'm really nervous because when we're doing our skills part its only going to be myself and the judge. For our skills we're going to be given five skills. Hand washing is automatically a skill, and that mean we're going to be given four surprised skills. The class is taking the test at the Regional Testing Center on Est Ball Road. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we go to our class room and practice for the test. Half of the class works on the written test and the other half works on the skills test.

On Tuesday my instructor wanted to assign me in the front, but I didn't want to work in the front because the front rooms are really slow. I wanted to get work done, and I asked the instructor if I can have the hall rooms and she responded to me asking why. I told her I wanted to have a hand full of work to do. She was soooo happy because I asked if I can have a lot of work. My partner was my friend Jasmine. We had about six rooms. We had one shower because the other resident didn't trust students bathing him. This Saturday and Tuesday are my clinical. We are going to start preparing ourselves for the state test that is going to be on May 18th. The Saturdays coming up we are going to be practicing in our lab at my High School. I'm super nervous for the test!!

Clinical has been canceled a couple times. On the eighth and the eighteenth of this month clinical was canceled because the state went on Tuesday and on Saturday my instructor had a meeting. On Tuesday April fifteenth I went to clinical, but we got out at 7pm. My partner was Jasarett and we had the rooms in the front. Our CNA didn't really need our help because she was already finished with her work by the time we got there. Jazz and I had to look out for call lights. We had two residents who pressed the call light. One just wanted to know who his CNA was and the other wanted to know what her blood pressure was. After that we helped our CNA pass out trays because we were on the floor. When we're on the floor we feed the residents in their room. This week at clinical was good.

2nd Semester 7th Blog

On  March 25th Mrs Edna was our instructor because it was tuesday. That Tuesday my partner was my friend Gabby.  Our CNA was really nice we had the rooms in the hall way, but once we got there she was halfway finished with all her work. Therefor we didn't have such a hard day it was very slow. After taking a couple call lights and changing it was finally dinner. For dinner the residents were eating spaghetti, salad, and a toast bread. For dessert the residents ate angle cake with fruit on the top.  I fed two residents that day. The residents I fed are dependent so they needed help. After feeding them I got to take them to there rooms. To get the dirty linens out so we can start changing we had to wait till all the residents were finished eating. Once they all finished eating we changed them and put them to bed.
